When there's a good idea...

capitalize!

I've been watching too much tv, trying to follow each and every show, so I'm going to narrow my tv time down to 4 shows. Still excessive probably, but we all need some couch time!!

1) Castle

2) Bones

3) Psych

4) Mentalist

Let me describe all these shows: Detective with consultant partner solves crimes, with romantic overtones (except for Mentalist). Castle and Bones both write crime novels which fulfills the romance that doesn't happen in their lives. Psych and Mentalist both use jedi mind tricks to one up their respective detective friends. The crimes are sometimes similar too, but I don't care. Most of the main characters in these shows have had parents involved in crime (victim or otherwise) which led them to their careers. If it's a good story, it's a good story. I can basically watch the same show 4x a week!

Creators of Grey's Anatomy have a new show out about doctors doctoring in foreign countries. It looks like it's going to be a lot of dramarama just like Grey's.

The day is still young

I know it's 5pm, but I am making my to do list now, and whatever I accomplish, I accomplish. Whatever I don't... there's no don't!!!

Make a replica of an American Apparel dress I just bought. It turns out to be just two large rectangles sewn together! It's highly versatile and can "transform" into like 20 dresses/skirts. Great idea, AA, great idea. Now I steals it.

Begin making hats for whoever desires one. My first is a cat hat.

Paint Initial art for Fifioni. Yay, I get to see you in person in 2 days! So excited. You better not cry when I hold you or.. or.. I'll be very sad. :(

FINISH the stupid book.

I forgot where I found this image. Cross-stitching looks like lots of pixely fun. I'll have to remember to pick up cross stitching supplies next time at Michael's of Joann.

EXPRESS is looking really nice this season!

The perfect blend of New England and girly, Express is looking lovely this season. I'm in love with almost the entire collection. Loving the navy blue and frills. I have 2 navy blue pea-coat already, so I can't justify getting another, but none of mine have pretty frills and ruffles! Maybe I should get one in the camel color? I mean, it's pretty chilly here in NYC like all the time. It would not go to waste!

EXPRESS: RUFFLED-BOTTOM BELTED WOOL TRENCH COAT

This one has a motorcycle jacket feel to it but still has the feminine accents.

Casual cool.

EXPRESS: MINI RUFFLE TIERED SKIRT
More feminine ruffles. The deep jewel color is prefect for the Fall.

The giant collar will keep you warm. They don't have a great selection of colors tho.

I'll never be brave enough to wear these shoes.
Maybe if I trim the heels down to 1.5 inches. :)

zee pen necklace

There were so many times I needed a pen and realized it's in my OTHER bag! Have no fear, the pen necklace is the answer! Now only will you always have a writing utensil on hand, it's tres fashionable as well. I first noticed it while googling Mad Men jewelry. Joan (Christina Hendricks) wears a gold pen necklace all the time. Now I have to google to see where I can get one. I have so many free pens that I haven't used yet tho from various companies that I don't know if I'll get a chance to use a pen necklace. SIGH. Better get writing.

rainy day wedding

I love the rain, I really do. It gives photos a mood that just can't be done on sunny days. I found this photo on the internet while browsing for rain boots. It's almost Fall, and I expect there to be plenty of rain in New York. Photos like this inspire me to be a photographer. I really have to pick up the camera more these days. Sigh. But for now, I'll live on plenty of entenmann's chocolate chip cookies and short walks while I have this giant rubber tube protruding from my abdomen. I feel like I've been abducted by aliens and forced to undergo experimentation. Argh!

On a good note, I got these lovely boots for a decent price from Target. :) Laugh all you want sistah (and bro in law), but I'll be wearing them all Autumn. Heck, I'm going to bring them with me to Austin so I can wear it there while I hang out with y'all.

Sam Toft

The whimsical art of Brit Sam Toft amuses and relaxes me. I think I'll get one for my entry way. I wonder if's too light and happy though. It's like a false representation of my mental health. Haha. J/K...?

This print combines several things I like: dog, basket, bike, duck, and yellow.

Leisure times

Summer dresses are sooooo pretty. These dresses from Anthrologie look good enough to frame on the wall. I would wear them go frolick everywhere. Except maybe Colorado. It doesn't seem like a summer dress kind of place.

These necklaces would complement the dresses perfectly. The dresses and the accessories remind me mini weekend vacations to seaside towns that I love so much.

Alas, even though the above dresses are on sale, Anthropologie is still too expensive for my wallet. I can only gawk at the dresses and dream about the beach for now.

perfect!

I happened upon this poster shortly after the last blog! It's got a window, an umbrella, and a bicycles! Better yet, it also has a fat chef on it hinting at yummy foods (another fave).

just some things

windows
bicycles
umbrellas

Just some things I really love looking at for some strange reason. Am I just weird?

Old things can be cool things

I'm glad Etsy has a vintage section so we can shop vintage from the comfort of our cushy computer chairs instead of rummaging through stacks of old musty things, although that can be quite an adventure! Here are some vintage finds that I have my eyes on. It's been a while since I etsy'd and there are more sellers than ever now! You can find anything and everything on etsy. I love it!

Escargot in garlic butter

Escargot in garlic butter, originally uploaded by Jenbolaya.

The hyped up Breslin Bar had a TWO hour wait for a table and probably another TWO hour wait for food after that, so we decided to head to Les Halles, which is close enough and had a shorter waiting time. This decision suited me because I wasn't expecting much from the Breslin. Serving high fat content pork products doesn't make a good restaurant. At Les Halles, we ordered escargot in garlic butter sauce, mushroom puff pastry, hangar steak, pork loin, and braised beef. For dessert, we had creme brulee, chocolate soufflé, and apple pastry and it was ALL DELICIOUS!!

My faves were escargot (love that garlic butter), braised beef, and the creme brulee.

Yay!

Knits and Eats

Now that I'm stuck home in the frigid, not-safe-to-be-outside-without-a-down-blanket-wrapped-around-me-weather, I have nothing to do but knit and eat and take pictures of the two.

iKnit (actually mom knit, iCrochet'd something but it was awful enough she took it apart)
Crochet hat

iEat (I ate)

Orange you yummy?

Still haven't gone anywhere on my list to eat yet, but hoping to visit Breslin tonight for their fatty pork products! Hooray for fatty pork products!

Restaurant week and more!!

Restaurant week is here again! With the super long list of places I've never been able to afford, it's not an easy decision to make. There's David Boulud's empire of resturants, Brasserie, Morimoto, and so on and so forth. There's Apiary, which is fairly new in town, but Chef Scott Bryan is supposedly down to earth and just simply a great chef. How is one supposed to choose? "Luckily", Mik0 suggested a steakhouse. A steakhouse?? Yes. So we're going to a steakhouse.

Here's a list of restaurants and eateries I will have to stop by after my release from this jail.

- Bierkraft
- One Girl Cookies
- Ronnybrook Farm Dairy
- Otto
- L'Arte del Gelato
- Milk and Cookies
- How Sweet It Is
- Jacques Torres
- The Chocolate Room

Ok, so they're all ice cream sandwich places. I deserve the treat!
